Although the term “modern rock” has been used to distinguish this type of music from classic rock, it specifically refers to any kind of rock music that, besides being easily found in commercial stations, is a variation of alternative rock. As many other music genres, it has been subjected to criticism by followers of indie and alternative rock who consider it a not good enough imitation. In spite of criticism, Hawthorne Heights, Audioslave, 3 Doors Down, Disturbed, Fall Out Boy are some of the artists who represent this genre.
