Ana Gabriel, whose real name is María Guadalupe Araújo Young, is a famed Mexican composer and singer.  Born in Gramúchil, Sinaloa, her father is a Mexican man with Spanish ancestry, and her mother is also from Mexico with Chinese and Spanish ancestry.  Her artistic career started when she was a little child.  When she was six years old, she made her first performance called “Regalo A  Dios”.  Later on, she and her family moved to Tijuana, Baja California, the place where she studied accountancy.  In 1977, when she was only fifteen years old, she recorded her first song, which was called “Comprendeme.”  In a local festival called Valores Juveniles in Mexico, Ana Gabriel came in second place after singing the song “No Me Lastimes Mas.”

In this moment of her life, Ana Gabriel has been working with Sony Music and, until this moment, she has recorded 18 albums, all of them with great success.  Besides, she is very well-known due to the wide-ranging diversity of rhythms in which she has sung.  Among these rhythms, it is possible to find lambada, Mexican songs with Mariachi, boleros and romantic ballads.  Moreover, Ana Gabriel has sung really famed songs that have gotten to be musical marvels.  In 1985, she participated in the OTI song festival, which provided her with international prestige and recognition.  Two years later, she won the first place in the festival.

Due to her high-quality work, Ana Gabriel’s albums have been categorized as Gold, Platinum and Diamond records.  Furthermore, she has been given the most significant awards, which every single artist dreams of, including Lo Nuestro and Billboard awards.  In fact, this year, she received the “Premio a la Exelencia” during the Premios Lo Nuestro.  Ana Gabriel has become famous not only in Latin America, but in other countries such as Holland, Slovenia and Spain, which demonstrates that she really is an icon in the Latin American music.  Thus, it is easy to know that Ana Gabriel will always be one of the best artists in Latin America.
