Mobile Radio launches in South Africa. Sydus appoints Prescription Consulting as distribution partner for South Africa.

Johannesburg, GP (PRWEB) April 5, 2006 -- Sydus, an innovator in creating audio-to-mobile lifestyle expressions, announced today the appointment of Prescription Consulting in South Africa as its distributor to promote and distribute Sydus’ products and services – MobileRadio, OnDemand and Live, revolutionary software that allow wireless handset users to stream music through their Sydus-compatible wireless handsets, in the territory.

The partnership allows Sydus to expand into South Africa to serve its customers better, with the assistance of the Prescription team, who understand the market and its needs the best. For corporate entities and brands of identity, the partnership offers opportunities for enhancing current and new promotional campaigns they initiate. They can now enhance and increase the levels of access and interactivity with end-users, consumers and employees, by being able to offer them ‘mobile radio’ streamed over all three GSM networks - GPRS, EDGE and WCDMA on over 189 handset models and variants, on their most ubiquitous and personal device, the mobile phone.

Sydus’ products and services also allow radio stations and brands to extend their presence and experiences right into the pockets of consumers in an affordable way.

“The purpose of Sydus’ range of products and services is to make available every type of audio content that can be easily accessible on a mobile-phone. Our aim is to connect brands and retailers to their target audiences and consumers to the kind of audio content they most desire, regardless of their geography. We are proud to collaborate with Prescription to offer South Africans with a medium that will further the reach and range of their voices on the global ear,” said Saumil Nanavati, President of Sydus on the partnership.

In March 2005, Sydus launched an innovative concept with their software, MobileRadio by introducing the world’s first 3G mobile radio service, in partnership with Virgin Radio UK. It has also partnered with Barnabas Road Media and launched the world’s first Christian Music mobile radio service.

Within a year of its launch, Sydus has enabled the world’s most listened-to radio service. Users from over 90 countries have accessed the service more than 400,000 times and clocked over 3.5 million listening minutes till date. The dynamic company has set a trend for global mobile services with the universal language of music, by breaking geographical limitations and crossing boundaries only imaginable before.

“The Sydus-Prescription partnership brings with it many new exciting and empowering applications and solutions for the Southern African mobile lifestyle, and mobile communication arenas. The most obvious spheres for immediate expansion would be regional broadcasters (education and entertainment) and lifestyle brands, and the application will be truly South African once all sporting faculties and teams access this ‘channel’ for global broadcast…Live rugby, cricket and soccer commentary, interviews and news…on your mobile handset…anywhere in the world,” said Jayson Faber, Chief Executive of Prescription Consulting.

According to a study by Airwide Solutions, a mobile infrastructure software provider, major brands are shifting significant marketing resources to marketing via mobile phones. It is expected that over half of brands will spend up to 25% of their total marketing budgets on mobile marketing. Sydus provides brands with an ideal solution for reaching out to their target audiences with music. This is supported by research by ABI Research which predicts that the global market for mobile music should hit US$9.3 billion by 2011.
