Nevertheless, Rod did not start as a singer, his passion was the football soccer, and he played with the Brentford F.C. but then changed to the music.

By the early 60’s Rod met the folk singer Wizz Jones and both together started to travel around Europe as street singers but it was not successful at all. When he returned to England he started to sing with the band “Jimmy Powell and the Five Dimensions”. In 1964 Rod went back to London and started to play with Long John Baldry’s Hoochie Coochie Men. Then the band changed the name to “Steampacket”. For those times Rod was known in the musical circles as “Rod the Mod”.

In 1966 the band broke up and Rod met the group “Shotgun Express” as lead singer, with that group he only released a single before leaving the band which later also broke up. By 1968 he joined the “Jeff Beck Group” and in the same year they released the album “Truth” which was very successful and the next year another album named “Beck-ola”, also successful.

This is just the beginning of the musical career of Rod Steward who later joined the band “The Faces” but then left it to start his solo career which was very successful among the 70’s. By the 2000’s Rod was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and is being treated since it.
