Stone Temple Pilots: Innovative Musicians

Stone Temple Pilots (STP) was a popular hard rock band of the 1990’s. The members of Stone Temple Pilots were: Scott Weiland (vocals), Robert DeLeo (bass), his brother Dean DeLeo (guitar) and Eric Kretz (drums). This band released five albums which sold a total of over 17 million copies worldwide. Stone Temple Pilots had fifteen singles among the top ten of the Billboard charts, including a total of six #1 songs and one # 1 album (Purple [1994] ). In 1994, the band won a Grammy for “Best Hard Rock Performance with Vocal” for the song Plush. This band was influenced by the music of the Doors, the Beatles and Led Zeppelin; in fact, Stone Temple Pilots made covers of some of the songs of these bands.

In 2003, the Stone Temple Pilots released a greatest hits record called Thank You. They began to separate after this release. Today, Scott Weiland is the leader of Velvet Revolver, a group that he formed with former members of Guns N’ Roses. Robert and Dean DeLeo formed a band called Army of Anyone. Eric Kretz was the founder of Bomb Shelter Studios in Los Angeles; he also plays drums in a band called Spiralarms. Some songs of Stone Temple Pilots are: “Sex Type Thing”, “Plush”, “Wicked Garden”, “Creep”, “Sin”, “Crackerman”, “Big Empty”, “Vasoline”, “Interstate Love Song”, “Unglued”, “Dancing Days”, “Pretty Penny”, “Adhesive”, “ No Way Out”, “Heaven and Hot Rods”, “Days of the Week”, “Hollywood Bitch” and “All in the Suit That You Wear.”
