Tad was a rock/grunge band from Seattle, Washington that came out in the grunge era. The music that they played has an influence of the metal of the 70’s. The members of this band were: Tad Doyle (vocals and guitar from 1988 to 1999), Kurt Danielson (bass from 1988 to 1999), Gary Thorstensen (guitar from 1988 to 1994), Steve Weid (drums from 1989 to 1991), Rey Washam (drums from 1991 to 1992), Josh Snider (drums from 1993 from 1996) and Mike Mongrain (drums from 1996 to 1999). They used to dress like northwestern lumberjacks. Tad Doyle used to be a butcher; he met Kurt Danielson in a Christian dinner. They used to play together in a band called Bundle of Hiss until 1988 when they formed Tad.

This band signed a record deal with Sub Pop. In 1989, Jack Endino produced God’s Balls, the debut album of Tad. They released Salt Lick, their second album, in 1990. They filmed a video for the single “Wood Goblins” but MTV banned it alleging that it was “too ugly.” Tad toured with Nirvana, returned to Seattle and recorded their third album in 1991. This album was named 8-Way Santa, the name of a type of blotter acid. In 1993, Tad recorded Inhaler, their first album on a major label. The band began to experience some problems after the death of Kurt Cobain. Tad was dissolved in 1999 but Kurt Danielson and Tad Doyle got involved on other musical projects.
