Bloodshot Records is an independent record label established in 1994 in Chicago and specialized in indie and root inflected rock. Down to the Promised Land is a compilation that consists of two CDs and 41 singles performed by some of the most significant and influential Bloodshot Records’ artists. This is an album that offers a great variety of musical styles ranging from punk-bluegrass, melancholy balladry, country soul, garage rock, country-blues and many more. Down to the Promised Land is simply outstanding, and a return to the roots of this label and the music they want to produce. Five years of music are encompassed in this album.
