LL Cool J (“Ladies Love Cool James”) is a rap/hip hop artist and an actor. He was born on January 14, 1968 and his real name is James Todd Smith. He can sing romantic ballads as well as hardcore rap songs. His fans see him as a ladies man and many women think that he is a sex symbol because of his good looks and muscular body. LL Cool J is also an icon of the rap and hip hop industry because he has been able to have a successful career as a rapper for more than a decade, balancing it with his acting career.

This rapper grew up in a musical family. LL Cool J had a troubled childhood but he used hip hop and rap as a way to escape from his problems. In 1984, LL signed a record deal with Def Jam Recordings. This rap artist was among the first rappers that were able to make pop-oriented rap.
