The Fugees: Ready to Come Back

The Fugees are a popular music group that has songs with rhythms such as hip hop, soul and reggae. The members of the group are: Wyclef Jean, Lauryn Hill and Pras Michel. Their name derives from the term refugee. The Fugees recorded two albums: Blunted on Reality and The Score (a multi-platinum, Grammy-winning record). This group was really famous in the 1990’s before their separation in 1997. Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean became successful solo artists and Pras Michel began to act and record soundtracks.

On September 18, 2004, The Fugees were reunited; they performed in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City at Dave Chapelle’s Block Party along hip hop celebrities such as Mos Def, Kanye West, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, The Roots, Common, Talib Kweli, Kool G Rap, Big Daddy Kane, Dead Prez, Bilal, John Legend, J, the Central State University Marching Band and Cody ChestnuTT.

A reunion of the Fugees sometime in the near future is almost imminent, there are plans on a new album; in fact, on September 27, 2005, a single called Take It Easy was released on the internet. The group was on their first tour since 1997, it was a European tour from November 30, 2005 to December 20, 2005. The Fugees played in Slovakia, Finland, Austria, Germany, Norway, Italy, England, France, Switzerland, Sweden and Denmark. Some hit singles of this group are: “Nappy Heads”, “Vocab”, “Fu-Gee-La”, “Killing Me Softly”, “Ready or Not”, “No Woman, No Cry”, “Rumble in the Jungle” and “Take It Easy”.
