Gloria Estefan, whose real name is Gloria María Milagrosa Fajardo, was born on September 1st, 1957 in Havana, Cuba.  Without a doubt, she constitutes one of the best Latin American singers and songwriters.  When she was only 16 month old, she and her family moved up to Miami, Flora in 1959, following the Cuban Revolution.  His father was a bodyguard of Fulgencio Batista, the Cuba’s president’s wife at those times.  For this reason, her father was taken prisoner.  In addition, he also worked as an officer for the US army in Vietnam, where it is supposed to be poisoned.  Her mother, who is today living in Miami, runs a school in Cuba.

Gloria Estefan was several times taken to serve military bases during the 60’s.  Then, she began studying at the University of Miami while working as a French and Spanish translator in the Miami International Airport.  She began this absolutely successful career when she was the main vocalist in a band called Miami Sound Machine in 1975 when she was only 18 years old.

Gloria Estefan’s time with The Miami Sound Machine was extremely successful.  With hits like “Conga”, “Words Get in the Way”, and “Bad Boy” belonging to the album Primitive Love constituted a passport to Europe.  Her next album called Let It Loose, which was released in 199, went multi-platinum with successful hits such as “1,2,3”, “Can’t Stay Away From You” and “Rhythm Is Gonna Get You.

In 1996, Gloria Estefan started her first world tour called “Evolution.”  The tour included the U.S., Latin America, South Africa, Europe, Australia and Asia.  Moreover, in 1999, she also appeared in a movie called Music of the Heart and made a duet with N’SYNC on the Academy Award Nominated “Music of my Heart” and the Billboard #1.  Gloria Estefan’s most recent album is Unwrapped, which was released in 2003.  The singles “Hoy” and “Tu Fotografía” were #1 in Billboard’s Latin chart.  Some time after, she was offered to be one official judge but she refused.  Thus, Gloria Estefan can be characterized as a more than successful five-time Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter-author.  Is she not marvelous?
