Tone Loc is a rapper and actor that is remembered because of his grave voice and his hit singles Wild Thing and Funky Cold Medina. His real name is Anthony Terrell Smith and he was born on March 3, 1996 in Los Angeles, California. His friends used to call him Antonio Loco; in fact, that nickname originated the Tone Loc name. Tone Loc was one of the first West Coast rappers.

This artist ascended to stardom in 1989 when he released the song Wild Thing, using a drum beat sample of Jamie’s Cryin, a song of Van Halen. Even though the drum beat sample was stolen and used illegally, Van Halen did not sue. Wild Thing and Funky Cold Medina were written by Marvin Young (Young MC).

His Loc-ed After Dark album was the second rap release that was able to top the pop charts. As an actor, Tone Loc appeared a few times in a sitcom of Fox called Roc. He also appeared in television series like NewsRadio and Aladdin and in a reality television series called Superstar USA. He acted in movies like The Adventures of Ford Fairlane, The Return of Superfly, FernGully: The Last Rainforest, Bebe’s Kids, Posse, Poetic Justice, Surf Ninjas, A Cool Like That Christmas, Car 54, Where Are You?, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Blank Check, Happily Ever After: Fairy Tales for Every Child,  Heat, Spy Hard, Fakin’ Da Funk, Freedom Strike, Whispers: An Elephant’s Tale, Titan A.E, They Crawl and Deadly Rhapsody.
