Avril Lavigne, a young girl from Napanee in Ontario, Canada, was born in 1984 and since very early ages started to participate in different talent shows. When she was just 16 years old, she left Ontario, and while being in New York, she signed to Arista Records. Avril Lavigne is a very talented artist who writes her songs taking inspiration from real experiences or situations that have happened to her. Although she is really young, just 19 years old, her last album Under My Skin shows a mature Avril, one that has, as she said, “…grew up much in the past two years”.

In these years, Avril Lavigne has achieved what many artists could not. Her popularity spread quickly since 2002 when her video “complicated” won the MTV Video Music Award. Moreover, she had the opportunity to perform with musicians she has always admired: Alanis Morissette and Johnny Reznik from Goo Goo Dolls. However, she does not let this fame and popularity lose herself surrounded by too many adults and in a industry wherein she seems to be too young.

The members of Avril Lavigne’s band are Matt Brann, Charlie Moniz, Devin Bronson, and Craig Wood. Let Go (2002) and Under My Skin (2005) are two of the albums Avril has released. She has also covered songs from other artists: Fuel (Metallica), Basketcase (By Green Day), Knocking on Heaven's Door (Bob Dylan), Chop Suey (System of a Down) and Kiss Me (Sixpence None the Richer).

Avril Lavigne is more than a pop star; she is a girl who enjoys writing songs, singing and skateboarding, who has a dog and whose favorite movies are 8 Mile and Miss Congeniality. Did you know that if she had not been a singer she would have been a police officer? Well, that is Avril Lavigne. “I’m basically just a girl who likes to write, who likes to rock out, and who wants music to be a part of my life forever." Nobody could have said it better.
