311 is a rapcore, reggae and punk rock band that was formed in Omaha, Nebraska in the late 80’s. The name of the band is three eleven and not as others call it: three hundred eleven. During 1988 and 1995 the band released several discs under their own recording label (What Have You Records). Those discs are: “Dammit!” in 1990, “Unity” in 1991 and “Hydroponic” in 1992. Those albums were released in the mid west and were not very successful. That is why the band decided to move to California and look for another record label.

In 1995 they signed to Capricorn Records and released their self titled debut album which is also known as “The Blue Album” and that went triple platinum and was also the mainstream of the band with the singles “Down” and “All Mixed Up”. Two years later the band followed its mainstream with the launch of their second album entitled “Transistor” which debuted on the number four position of the Billboard’s Albums Charts of 1997. In 1998, 311 released two more discs named “Live” and “Omaha Sessions”.

By 1999 they launched their fifth disc called “Soudsystem” which has the hit single “Come Original”. The next year 311 released their sixth major disc release entitled “From Chaos” which debuted on the number 10 position of the Billboard Album Chart in 2001. After that the band has released three more discs (“Evolver” in 2003, “Greatest Hits ’93-’03” in 2004 and “Don’t Tread on Me” in 2005).

311 is composed by the lead vocalist and guitarist Nick Hexum, Douglas Martinez who is backing vocalist and percussionist, the bassist Aaron Wills, the guitarist Tim Mahoney and Chad Sexton in the drums.
