Atlantic Recording Corporation or Atlantic Records is an American record brand, and a division of Warner Music Group. It was established in 1947 by Herb Abramson and Ahmet Ertegun. Since it’s foundation, Atlantic was first and foremost an R&B and jazz record brand. In the beginning of the 50's Ahmet was united by Nesuhi Ertegun and then Jerry Wexler. From 1955 Nesuhi guided the corporation's jazz section and was in charge for most important projects for example John Coltrane and Charles Mingus; soon after Joel Dorn occupied this position. Even though it starts as a self-governing record corporation, it became a foremost player in the music industry in the 1960s, with normal pop musicians such as Sonny and  Cher.

The producer, and later engineer, Tom Dowd guided Atlantic's engineering division. Some sub-brands have been produced or obtained since then. Atco Records was established by Herb Abramson in 1955. Spark Records, the music brand of Mike Stoller and Jerry Lieber, was bought in November 1955. Others featuring 143 Records, and Lava Records befall part of the Atlantic Corporation. Atlantic was obtained by Warner Bros. Seven Arts in 1967. It is presently part of the Warner Music Group, a former section of media multinational Time Warner that was sold to an association of investors in 2004.

The brand has also a number of brands businesses with autonomous for example VP Records in Jamaica, address to reggae musicians like Sean Paul and Must Destroy that toke The Darkness and Goldie Lookin' Chain into the company.
