Poison: More Than 20 Years of Glam Metal

Poison is a hair metal band (term that MTV used to define the fact that the members of the glam metal bands of the 1990’s had a similar sense of fashion and used long hair) that was extremely popular at the end of the 1980’s and beginning of the 1990’s. The original members of Poison were: Bret Michaels (vocals), Bobby Dall (bass), Matt Smith (guitar) and Rikki Rockett (drummer). Poison was formed in 1984 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; at that time, they were called Paris. In 1985, they moved to Los Angeles, California and began playing in clubs. Poison was influenced by the music of the New York Dolls, KISS, Aerosmith, Cheap Trick, Kix and Van Halen.

On August 2, 1986, Poison released Look What the Cat Dragged In, their first album, which sold 2 million copies. The main songs of this album are: “I Want Action”, “I Won’t Forget You” and “Talk Dirty to Me". On April 4th 2006, Poison released an album called The Best Of Poison: 20 Years Of Rock. The current members of Poison are: Bret Michaels (vocals), C.C. DeVille (guitar), Bobby Dall (bass) and Rikki Rockett (drums).
