Wisin y Yandel are two reggaeton singers that are from Cayey, Puerto Rico.  In particular, Juan Luis Morera Luna, better known as Wisin, was born on December 15, 1979.  On the other hand, Yandel, whose real name is Llandel Veguilla Malavé, was born on January 14, 1977.  This duo, which is also known as “El Duo Dinámico” or “El Duo de la Historia” has become a key figure when talking about reggaeton.  Some of the songs for which they have become so famous are “Mayor que Yo”, “LLame pa’ verte”, “Rakata” and “El Gistro Amarillo.”  In addition, Wisin and Yandel featured on the R. Kelly’s last album, on the song “Burn it Up” in conjunction with Luny Tunes.

Under the label of Fresh Production, Wisin and Yandel got into the rap genre when recording for DJ Nicky’s in 1998.  In addition, the following year was a very successful time for them since they signed up for this same record label, and appeared in La Misión, Vol. 1, which went gold.  In fact, the production was so fabulous that, in 2000, Fresh Production also produced their solo album called Los Reyes del Nuevo Milenio.  Nonetheless, before this moment, Yandel was a barber and Wisin was planning some musical projects.

At the end of 2002, they released De Otra Manera, which constitutes their third album, which went gold too.  In 2003, they released another called Mi Vida. One year later, Wisin and Yandel decided to go solo.  Hence, Wisin released El Sobreviviente whereas Yandel recorded his Quien Contra Mi.  Thus, no matter what they do, they know they will succeed same as always.  Now you understand why it is impossible to talk about reggaeton without mentioning Wisin and Yandel, right?
