Ice-T is a rapper, actor and author. He was born on February 16, 1958 in Newark, New Jersey and his real name is Tracy Marrow. Ice-T is among the pioneers of gangsta rap and rapcore. Marrow grew up in Los Angeles. He joined the Army after high school; there, he was a Ranger in the 25th Infantry. It was not a good experience for Ice-T, he explained the reasons by saying: “I didn’t like total submission to a leader other than myself.” Ice-T signed a record deal with Electro recordings along fellow rap pioneers DJ Flash, Kid Frost and Egyptian Lover. After a change of style, Ice-T was the first West Coast rapper accepted in the East Coast.

In 1991, Ice-T began to have a serious career as an actor when he played a police detective in New Jack City, a film of Mario Van Peebles; then he had a lead role in Surviving the Game. He has made appearances on movies like R’Xmas, Tank Girl, 3000 Miles to Graceland. He also appears on television series like Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Players. In Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Ice-T plays Det. Odafin “Fin” Tutuola. This rapper also appears in a movie called Leprechaun in the Hood. He voiced a character named Madd Dogg in the video game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and makes an appearance as himself in Def Jam: Fight for NY. The last album that he released was The Seventh Deadly Sin in 1999.
