Donna Summer is a disco/pop singer that has sold over 100,000,000 records. Her real name is LaDonna Andre. She was born on December 31, 1948. The variety of disco hits that she had in the 1970’s turned her into “the Queen of Disco”. This artist began her career before the disco explosion of the 1970’s but she was able to be part of it and continue her path towards stardom; she even covered genres such as gospel music, R&B and rock and roll; Donna Summer won Grammy Awards thanks to her performances in those genres. Today, her work is still acclaimed and accepted by all kinds of critics. This singer was born in Boston, Massachusetts, specifically in the Roxbury neighborhood. In 1971, she released "Sally Go ´Round the Roses", a single that was not as succesful as she hoped it could be.

The solo career of Donna Summer began in 1974 with the release of Lady of the Night, her first LP. The first hit of this singer was a song called "The Hostage".
