Robert Cray: A Contemporary Whose Blues Fascinates Everyone!

Advertising Information for vagmusic

Columbus, Georgia is the birth place of Robert Cray, the great interpreter, blues musician and guitarist of these decades. He was born August 1, 1953 and his charisma for music and songwriting took him to develop a pioneering sense of blues. Since high school, Cray dedicated much of his time to practicing the guitar and collecting soul and blues albums from famous interpreters. He also loved to attend performances of his favorite musicians, such as Freddy King, Albert Collins and others.

He was first popularly recognized regionally, but then, in 1982, Cray signed a contract with Mercury Records, and launched his third record called Strong Persuader; as an acknowledgment to all of his effort and his musical quality, Robert Cray was granted the Grammy Award for this release.

Up to the year 2005, Cray has recorded fifteen albums and has three compilations of his past productions, which are primarily full of modern blues. He is practically influenced by three mayor musicians: Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton and John Lee Hooker.

Robert Cray’s musical style has been usually compared with other blues performers, such as Ray Charles because of his distinguished and unique way to compose music.
