Sonny and Cher: More than a Duo!

Advertising Information for vagmusic

In the 1960’s, one of the most well-known and successful rock and roll bands was, without a doubt, Sonny and Cher.  This was a duo made up of husband and wife named Sonny Bono (Sonny Salvatore Bono), who was born on February 12, 1935 in Michigan and Cher, a homemaker.  This group was successful not only in the 60’s, but also in the 70’s.  In addition, this is believed to be the first hippie people who had a mainstream appeal.  However, Bono is also thought to have used this hippie style only with promotional objectives.

In 1965, what is considered Sonny and Cher’s most successful single, “I Got You Babe”, reached #1. Besides, this hit was also featured in the movie Groundhog Day in 1993, which allowed it to experience a sort of comeback.  Moreover, it is very interesting that Sonny and Cher acted as themselves in a 1967 film called Good Times.  Also, another of their facets corresponds to the fact that they hosted an extensive list of TV specials and series such as The Sonny & Cher Show (1976) and The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour (1971).

However, something unexpected happened in 1974.  Bono and Cher finished not only with their duo, but also with their marriage.  However, thirteen years later, both gave a real surprise when they appeared in NBC performing “I Got You Babe”, perhaps, their most famous song.  It is known that they ended their marriage in bad terms; however, Cher expressed how sorry she felt about Bono’s death.
