The Emotions were an all female disco group that was formed in Chicago, Illinois in 1968. The original members of this group were: Jeanette Hutchinson, Wanda Hutchinson and Sheila Hutchinson, these girls are sisters; their parents are Joseph and Lillian Hutchinson. Other members of this group included: Theresa Davis and Pamela Hutchinson. Joseph Hutchinson always strived to develop musical skills in his daughters. They began singing in church choirs where they were known as the Hutchinson Sunbeams. In 1968, this group of sisters changed their name to The Emotions. Their first album, So I Can Love You, was released in 1969. A song called “The Best Part of a Love Affair” became a hit single.

In 1971, the Emotions released their second album, Untouched. Some of the songs that this album includes are: “If You Think It” and “Show Me How”. Some of the songs included in the album Sunshine and Flowers (which was released in 1976) are: “I Don’t Wanna Lose Your Love”, “Flowers”, “Shouting Out Love”, “Anyway You Look At It” and “Baby I’m Though”. However, the big break of this band came when they associated with Maurice White of Earth, Wind & Fire. In 1977 and 1978, he helped them release two albums, Rejoice and Sunbeam. Maurice White produced their single “Best Of My Love”, a song that spent five weeks as number one of the US pop chart in 1977. In 1990, The Emotions released their final album.
