Winger was a glam metal band that was formed in 1987 by Kip Winger and Reb Beach. This band was from New York City. The members of Winger were: Kip Winger (bass, vocals), Reb Beach (guitar), Rod Morgenstein (drums), Paul Taylor (keyboards, rhythm guitar, from 1987 to 1991) and John Roth (guitar, from 1993 to 1994). Kip Winger and Paul Taylor used to play with Alice Cooper’s band. When the band was being formed, they wanted to be called Sahara but another band had that name. The band chose the name Winger but the word Sahara is seen in the cover of their debut album.

This band recorded three studio albums: Winger (1988), In the Heart of the Young (1990) and Pull (1993). Their self-titled debut album was released on August 10, 1988; it was really successful, reaching gold status in Canada and Japan and platinum in the United States. Some of the most famous songs of this album are: “Seventeen”, “Headed For A Heartbreak”, and “Madalaine". These songs became instant hits on the radio and on MTV.

In the Heart of the Young, the second album of Winger was released in 1990. Some of the hit songs that it includes are: “Miles Away”, “Easy Come, Easy Go”, and “Can’t Get Enuff". In 1993, Winger broke up after the tour of their third album. After that, Kip Winger worked on his solo career and the rest of the band got involved on other projects. In 2001, Winger recorded a song called “On the Inside”; it is included in the compilation album The Very Best of Winger.
